American Red Cross Casual Days for a Cause: During the week of September 24th, LSR hosted casual days to benefit the American Red Cross Disaster Relief for those impacted by Hurricane Florence. Participating employees raised $939.00 to go to those in need after the devastation caused by the hurricane.

On June 15th, employees joined the Cincinnati Bar Association for their annual Superhero Run for Kids. This 5K run/walk benefits ProKids, an organization that provides Court Appointed Special Advocates to assist children in the community. It was a great evening to get out and stretch our legs for a great cause!

Paint the Town!

On June 9th, employees joined Give Back Cincinnati for their annual Paint the Town event. Paint the Town is a daylong event that engages more than 1,000 volunteers to rejuvenate homes in need of a little TLC. Painting a mass of homes in a concentrated area can truly serve as a catalyst to lift up a community. Participating employees helped to spruce up homes in the Colerain area.

March Madness Charity Bracket Challenge!

During the month of March, LSR participated in a group bracket challenge. In addition to rooting for our favorite NCAA teams, we created a March Madness Charity Bracket that listed numerous Charitable Organizations. Each week employees would vote for the charity they wanted to see continue on in the "tournament". In the end, Ronald McDonald House was our champion for future fundraising.

Cincinnati Youth Collaborative Trivia Night!

During the week of February 5th, LSR hosted casual days to sponsor the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative Trivia night that was held on February 22nd . Our fundraising efforts raised a total of $2600.00 that went to supporting the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative. In addition to our efforts, we had 60 participants in the trivia night! The Cincinnati Youth Collaborative is a local organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable children and young adults throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. CYC achieves this mission through one-on-one and group mentorships, as well as partnerships with local schools. The goal is to provide all young people in Cincinnati with the opportunities and training to become successful adults.

Mobile Mammography Van

On December 27th, LSR joined forces with The Jewish Hospital - Mercy Health Mobile Mammography Unit who provides onsite mammogram screenings. The Jewish Hospital- Mercy Health Mobile Mammography Units make screening mammography quick and easy. The self-contained, 38-foot vans are staffed by female radiology technologists who specialize in mammography. The units use the same FDA and Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA)-approved equipment as the hospital.

The Freestore Foodbank is a local organization that annually distributes over 20 million meals to more than 260 non-profit agencies, including community centers, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and various non-profit outreach centers in the 20 counties that they serve. American Red Cross

The month of September saw numerous devastating natural disasters. In support of all of those affected we hosted Casual Days where funds were distributed to the American Red Cross to support each relief effort. We raised $1,416.00 to assist in Hurricane Harvey Relief efforts, another $1,403.00 to assist those affected by Hurricane Irma, and $1,213.00 to support those affected in Mexico’s devastating earthquake and the hurricane impact in Puerto Rico.

Reds Community Fund

During the month of August, we held events that went to supporting the Reds Community Fund. Each week, we introduced new efforts to raise funds to give back! The LSR Community Service Committee created Raffle Baskets that were raffled off the first week of August. The Committee then sold additional raffle tickets to go toward the Split the Pot fundraiser. Finally, we hosted casual days leading up to a night out at the ballpark with LSR employees. Through all of those efforts, we were able to raise $1,758.00 to support the Reds Community Fund.

Autism Speaks

During the month of April we held casual days to support our March Madness Charity Bracket winner -Autism Speaks. We were able to successfully raise $620.00 for this organization. Additionally, we supported the Autism Speaks Walk at Coney Island on May 21st. Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. Ronald McDonald House Charities

During the month of September, LSR sold raffle tickets that went toward a casual week. All sales from the raffle tickets went towards the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati. We were able to successfully raise $700.00 for the charities. The Ronald McDonald House here in Cincinnati cares for 78 guest families every night, providing them with a “home away from home” while their children receive medical treatment at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Participating companies tracked their exercise for 9 weeks. Our LSR teams compiled over 31,000 miles of walking during this time, and one of our teams claimed the first place position!

Runs Walked in Challenge

With the start of baseball season, LSR’s Health and Wellness Committee joined forces with other downtown businesses to participate in the Runs Walked in Challenge that takes place from April 3rd to June 4th. Teams compete against one another by tracking their running, walking, biking etc. via fitness trackers. Curveballs and extra challenges are thrown in during these 9 weeks and the winning team with the most “Runs” at the end wins a prize!

During the week of April 21st, LSR’s Community Service Committee hosted a casual day to benefit Kenzie’s Closet; a boutique which provides prom dresses, shoes, and accessories to low income high school juniors and seniors. Through our casual day we were able to successfully raise funds that went to creating 32 care baskets for young girl’s this prom season. Casual Days for a Cause

During the month of February, LSR’s Community Service Committee hosted casual days for a cause to benefit the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative. Proceeds from the causal days went to assist in sponsoring LSR teams in the CYC Annual Trivia Night, which was held February 25th at Rhinegeist Brewery. Employees were able to successfully raise $1,307.00 to benefit the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative and we had 8 teams participate in the Trivia Night, one of whom were the First Place Winners and were mentioned in the April edition of Movers & Shakers – Cincinnati.

Operation Christmas Child-Service/Affidavit/CE/Sale Triage Team

On 11/19/15 the Service/Affidavit CE and Sale Triage Team worked together as a team to create a total of 14 shoe boxes that will go all over the world. The goal was to create 3 boxes and they definitely exceeded this! The boxes are filled with a "wow" toy and then also filled with other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. Pay It Forward Initiative

In October, the LSR Health and Wellness Committee focused on mental health by way of doing good deeds for others. The committee introduced The Pay It Forward Initiative at LSR! The initiative focusses on sending anonymous challenges to coworkers in order to promote doing a good deed for others. Participating employees post their "pay it forward bucks" to a bulletin board and in turn challenge a fellow co-worker to keep the chain going.

During the month of September, LSR employees collected new, or very gently used, children's books that will be going to Cincinnati Public Schools. This was a great way for our employees to clean out their bookshelves and support local school libraries.

Donation Days

Each month the LSR Community Service Committee picks a non-profit group in our area and solicits donations from LSR employees. As the Major League Baseball All Star Game came to Cincinnati, LSR employees participated in a silent auction to raise funds for the Reds Community Fund. Each department created masterful baskets and tickets were purchased for the raffle. Ticket sales raised an amazing $2,096.00 for the Reds Community Fund and with the generosity of Lerner, Sampson & Rothfuss, the firm matched what was raised, bringing the total donation to $4,192.00. For those of you who dont know, the number 4192 just so happens to be the number of hits that lead Reds player Pete Rose to break Ty Cobb's all-time hits record back in 1985. We can’t make this up!

Our Harvest Cooperative is committed to creating family-sustaining jobs in Greater Cincinnati, producing sustainably-grown, local produce and building a food hub to strengthen the local food system and increase access to healthy food from local farmers. The Award of Excellence is given annually to USFN Member firms who meet rigorous standards which evaluate professional activities, industry volunteerism, and community and charitable involvement by the firm. Casual Days for a Cause:

During the week of August 11th, LSR held Casual Days for a Cause to raise money benefitting ProKids. ProKids is a local volunteer program that advocates for abused and neglected children in our area. Together, LSR employees were able to successfully raise $1,444.00 for this cause. In addition to raising funds, LSR attorneys participated in the 18th Annual Superhero Run for kids. Our Harvest Cooperative: Lerner, Sampson and Rothfuss recently joined forces with Our Harvest Cooperative where participating employees receive fresh, local produce on a weekly basis. Blessings in a Backpack

On March 18th, LSR attended the USFN Servicing Conference in Ft. Worth, Texas. As a part of this conference, servicers and attorneys volunteered their time for Blessings in a Backpack. Blessings in a Backpack is a 501 C (3) non-profit organization currently feeding over 63,000 children in 583 schools in 45 U.S. states. The program is a hybrid of private sector funding and public partnership carried out in public schools. The children who qualify participate in the federal lunch programs and the backpacks that were filled help to supply food for that child on the weekends.
